Sydney Part 3

As days passed by, Sydney felt more and more familiar. On Friday, we woke up early and navigated over to our hotel pickup for the second tour we had signed up for. This one would take us west to the Blue Mountains. Matthew, our guide, grew up on a farm north of Sydney and had a wonderful Australian accent. He talked over the intercom for much of our bus ride telling us about the area with many jokes woven in.

The first stop on our tour was The Sydney Zoo! It was a wonderful new zoo with a nice setup for the animals. One dingo was just bouncing around in the human walking area 🙂

After the zoo, we rode to the Blue Mountains where our guide took us on a “bush walk”. Owen and I were very much the youngest people on the tour and thus we were at the front of the pack during this walk. The sights we saw were incredible!

Next up was lunch! Our guide drove us to a little mountain town and we all split up to get something to eat. Owen and I went to a bakery. Owen ordered Kangeroo pie and I ordered a pumpkin, feta and lentil pie. It was delicious! I even tasted Owen’s kangaroo pie! This was definitely the closest we got on this trip to “Australian Food”.

Throughout the trip, Owen and I met and talked to many of the other passengers on the tour. They were all very pleasant! Our next destination was Scenic World! There we ventured onto three different rides through the Blue Mountains. One was much steeper than expected!

So it was a fantastic day! So many gorgeous sights 🤩

The next day was Owen’s last day in Sydney and we kept it pretty chill. Owen had to take a test in the morning for college and I did laundry and talked with friends and family from the US. Afterward, we walked around the city and got Korean food for dinner.

Last dinner together

We ended our adventures together with a visit to Circular Quay at night. We discovered just how big night life is in Sydney and we observed many crazy drunk singers and dancers both on the light rail and in the town. 🤣

What a fun week we had! I’m gonna miss Owen but I am just so grateful we had the opportunity to travel here together.
