Sydney Part 2

As we spend more time in Sydney, Owen and I have become more and more comfortable navigating transit, finding good food and planning fun things to do with our time here. While we left some days open for exploring, we had 2 days prearranged with scheduled tours. The first was to go snorkeling at Manly Beach!

Cliffs at Manly Beach

We took a short ferry ride to Manly, walked along the beach, tried an AƧaƭ bowl for the first time (wow they are good!) and then met our iconic French snorkeling guide, Victor. Victor is a professional scuba diver and teaches both scuba and snorkeling to tour groups. Owen and I were early to the meet-up point so we got to talk with Victor about his adventures before the tour officially began. The tour involved a brief walk where we learned about the area followed by an hour snorkeling in the ocean!

We saw lots of fish! Victor, nearly having the abilities of a fish himself, went down very deep and got some gorgeous videos. Here’s one!

After our eventful snorkeling experience, we went to a local seafood market (Victor’s recommendation) and indulged in some fish and chips.

When we returned to Circular Quay (the harbour area with the Opera House), we decided to take another ferry to Cockatoo island with no knowledge of what was even there. Turns out it was a ship repair island during World War II. Interesting to learn about!

The following day, we continued following our adventuring spirits and decided to head south out of Sydney to a beach town suburb called Cronulla. There we went to an ice cream/juice shop and before even deciding what we wanted, the server was chucking watermelon, limes, apples and whatever other fruits he had into a food processor to make us each a yummy juice! It sure made choosing easier! We then walked along the beach and discovered many crabs!

After lunch, we decided to venture farther from the big city and we took a very wobbly ferry to a remote village. The ferry was full of kids going home from school and it was clear this wasn’t a common attraction for US tourists🤣

The ferry took us to Bundeena where we walked around a bit and then decided to jump in the water since it was so hot out (even though we didn’t have our proper swimsuits with us)

So, it turned out to be a super fun adventurous day! And we always seem to find delicious ways to end the day!

We still have a few more days in Sydney and will continue to tell you about the trip in the next installment of this blog!

  1. I love all the details! But I can’t get the videos! I get other videos – from your childhood, from your farm interviews, from Rangeley. Any suggestions?
