Quick Note: While I do see comments written on this blog, emailing me directly is easier as I can respond back in a way we are both used to! And back to my Sydney Adventures.
Owen had to head home on Sunday so I started off by taking him to the airport. After saying our goodbyes, I returned to our Air BNB and packed up. Since I would be traveling solo from here on, I only needed one bed and thus was downsizing to a cheaper Air BNB a train stop away.

My new host, Craig, greeted me at the door and showed me around my new accommodation. In this Air BNB, unlike with the previous one, I would be staying in the same house as the host. After getting organized and grabbing a sandwich for lunch, I headed off on the train to Royal National Park in Otford.

The Otford train station is not near shopping center or anything like that. It takes you to a woodsy walking path. I only came in contact with one shop while there, a restaurant, and it was closed. So, a very rural experience. When I arrived at the beach, there were gorgeous cliffs to look at.

I returned to Sydney after this very isolated day feeling pretty lonely and sad. Also, my phone was dead and I wasn’t sure where to charge it. I felt quite homesick.
I ended up charging my phone at McDonalds and then returned to my Air BNB where I relaxed and listened to familiar things like the WROR morning show.
The next morning, Craig and his boyfriend helped me get some ideas for what to do on my last day in Sydney. It was really sweet of them! Craig even helped me plan my time in Alice Springs. I talked to my parents on the phone and then talked to Elina while eating breakfast at Circular Quay.
A bit later on, I climbed the Sydney bridge pylon and got an incredible view of the city.

I also went to the Australia Museum!

For dinner I had some yummy crêpes.

I returned to my Air BNB and started to watch an Australian movie on their streaming service STAN. I’m usually wiped at the end of the day here. So much walking!
The next morning, I woke up early, said goodbye to Craig and headed off to the airport. I flew away from Sydney to the center of the country, Alice Spring.

The plane ride was gorgeous. Everything we saw after the first few minutes was just barren outback landscape.

And so I arrived in Alice Springs, the red center. The airport was the smallest I’ve ever been to and it is a good drive from the city. I took an airport shuttle to my Air BNB.
In my next blog post, I’ll get into my adventures in Alice Springs. Thanks for reading!

It must feel so sad to be homesick! I never felt homesick as a young person – which actually tells you how much you love your family! So it’s sorta good in a way.
You are very brave to do all this adventuring!
We love you very very much.
Wonderful pictures and stories. – thank u!
Peace, Marian
